Attorney Vijay Kale joins SIA Board

The Trustees and Board Directors of Society for Indo-American Arts (SIA) proudly announce that Mr. Vijay Kale is joining the Board as a Director effective immediately.

Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, Vijay is a first-generation immigrant of Indian descent. In 1993, Vijay graduated from UT Austin with a bachelor’s degree in Government.  Vijay went on to earn a J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center.  He also holds an M.P.H from UT School of Public Health.

Vijay currently manages his own law practice in Houston. He is a past President, Secretary and Treasurer of the South Asian American Bar Association of Houston.

While in school Vijay was involved in a variety of local organizations and he organized events, including concerts and speakers. Remarkably, Vijay has experience in working with South by Southwest, the prestigious multi-day event encompassing cultural arts and business in Austin.

SIA is fortunate to have in Vijay a young energetic professional with a keen interest in cultural arts shaping its future.

Dear Friends,

There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel. God willing, SIA will resume presenting scheduled 2020 events in September.

In the meantime, SIA’s pick of the week for online music is the concert CROSSCURRENTS featuring Zakir Hussain (tabla, percussion), Shankar Mahdevean (vocals), Dave Holland (double bass), Louiz Banks (Piano), Chris Potter (sax, clarinet), Gino Banks (drums), and Sanjay Divecha (guitar).

Conceived by Zakir Hussain, CORSSCURRENTS makes a statement: jazz belongs as much to India as it does to America.
I am proud to have presented CROSSCURRENTS in Houston two years in a row!
